CHALLENGE

Create a custom experience where guests can pause, ground, and reconnect to themselves in an immersive environmental landscape

As part of 3daysofdesign 2025, to support the launch of the new Dream View Bench, Muuto wanted to create an experience that would transport guests into an immersive naturescape as a pause away from the city.

CREATIVE CONCEPT

Use neuroaesthetics to integrate proven biophilic design and support emotional, cognitive, and physical wellbeing

Built from research on multisensory forest bathing, the installation was designed to reduce cortisol, activate presence and support Nature Connectedness.

EXECUTION

A multisensorial experience in the heart of the city, using intentional nature-based design

Rooted in the science of biophilia, the installation features design elements which tap into sound, scent, sight and touch. Natural fractal patterns and tall grasses, moss, and trees form a layered topography, while mirrors and water enhance the sense of an infinite landscape - weaving nature into the experience.

Nature is our original home, yet we now spend more than 90% of our time indoors. Research suggests that connecting with nature and incorporating natural elements into our spaces can have a profound effect on our lives and improve our well-being. So how can we apply this knowledge when designing spaces?

Working in collaboration with Muuto, olfactory and soundscape designers, Kinda wove the neuroscience evidence base throughout the experience to create Grounded in Nature - offering visitors a pause from the city, inviting them to unplug, slow down, and reconnect their rhythm with nature.

The experience draws on the body’s innate response to nature, where sensory cues help shift the nervous system into a parasympathetic state, lowering heart rate, reducing cortisol, and promoting calm. Designed based on aesthetic principles in nature - light, textures, colors and sounds - and their impact on stress, heart rate, attention and mood, elements such as plants, grasses and mosses work in tandem with scent and sound, creating a measurable shift in both physiological and cognitive wellbeing.

Through this research-driven approach, the installation enhances greater Nature Connectedness - encouraging sustainable and mindful ecological behaviours, whilst enhancing life satisfaction and community.

“Kinda Studios brought a holistic perspective to the project, seamlessly integrating elements like sound, scent, and spatial design into one cohesive experience. Their guidance was important in shaping a cohesive, multisensory atmosphere that not only immerses visitors, but actively supports a sense of calm, restoration, and connection to nature.
