CHALLENGE

Build a compelling, credible and culturally relevant narrative rooted in neuroscience research for a 3-episode documentary series on the power of sound

We supported the narrative and development of 'The Art of Sound', a documentary series that explores sound’s role in human evolution and its continuing influence in our daily lives, building in neuroscience research into the storyline.

CREATIVE CONCEPT

Research translation and expert insights into the neuroscience of sound - on and off-screen

Using proven academic research, Kinda helped to build the narrative and inform the show’s production, while also featuring in the launch, ‘Sound is Fundamental’, alongside artist David Byrne.

EXECUTION

A 3-episode documentary series - 'The Art of Sound’

The series explores the evolutionary, scientific and philosophical dimensions of how we experience sound. Kinda was on the production team and starred in episode 1, bringing EVE, our real-time EEG emotion visualiser, to the L-Acoustics showroom to show the measurable impact of sound on our human biology.

Sound is inseparable from the human experience, shaping our perceptions, emotions and experiences. The Art of Sound uses leading researchers, artists and technologists to take us more deeply inside how sound shifts our spaces, our connections and our health.

Through innovative EEG research conducted by Kinda Studios at L-Acoustics London, the first episode, 'Sound is Fundamental' reveals how our brains and emotions respond to various soundscapes, natural and manmade, and their impact on our wellbeing – a crucial insight for our modern world, where humans spend 90% of their lives in constructed acoustic environments.

The series builds on L-Acoustics’ expertise in sound technologies, exploring how the artistic and scientific dimensions of sound shape human health. Intentional design is crucial to shaping the sounds we live with every day, and for creating acoustic environments which better support our societies.

“It's remarkable how much we can orient ourselves based on sound… I think sound probably affects us emotionally and physically. You can sense something you can't see.”
